We're getting screwed and it ALL started back with the liberals in Congress in 1932, when they foisted an excise tax on us for using gas. TAX AND SPEND. TAX AND SPEND! Then, in 1976 when they passed the Federal Land Policy Management Act. This allowed the Secretary of the Interior to collect fees and payments from oil companies in three different forms. These "fees and payments" are:
(1) Bonus (an initial payment to the Feds)
(2) Rental (an annual payment to lease the land)
(3) Royalty (a payment of 1/8 of the gross value of the oil and gas produced).
HOW THE H*LL can THEY charge for the usage of these PUBLIC LANDS? Have YOU seen a rebate lately? How about a payment from the Feds for "US" allowing this drilling like the good folks in Alaska get from THEIR state government on oil profits? Here is a little history lesson.
1932- a LIBERAL majority Congress enacted an excise tax on gasoline AND,stuffed their ill-gotten gains into the GENERAL FUND! And we ALL know what THAT means...TAX AND SPEND!
1982- a LIBERAL majority Congress raised the gas tax from four cents per gallon to NINE cents per gallon! A WHOPPING 125% INCREASE!
1990 (Dec)- a LIBERAL majority Congress raises the gas tax from 9 cents per gallon to FOURTEEN cpg! Almost a SIXTY PERCENT RAISE!
1993- a LIBERAL majority Congress raises the gas tax from 14 cpg to EIGHTEEN (18.4)! A THIRTY PERCENT RAISE!
From 1982 to 1993, liberals raised our gas tax a DISGUSTING TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN PERCENT (Cumulative)!
SHHHHHHHHHHH! TAX AND SPEND LIBERALS AT WORK!
Let's look at an example of their scammery.
In 2005, the US used 334 MILLION gallons of gas. That is 915068.5 gallons of gas a day. That means the Feds hauled in 170,000 DOLLARS A DAY for DOING NOTHING. They did NOTHING to explore where the oil IS. They did NOTHING to drill. They did NOTHING to pump it out. They did NOTHING to move the crude to the refinery. They did NOTHING to process OR transport this NEEDED, WANTED, and DESIRED product to market. They made over 62 MILLION DOLLARS just in gasoline tax! Add in the diesel tax and they are F**KING US MERCILESSLY to the tune of about 40 BILLION DOLLARS PLUS!!!
ALL for doing NOTHING.
Here's how this scam works.
Bonus- Win the lease (by bidding the highest...fork over the dough.)
Rental- Continuing to pay through the nose just to drill.
Royalty share: Federal royalty regulations state that oil companies must agree to pay a minimum of 12.5 percent in royalties to BLM for drilling on public lands. On Indian land, it jumps to a whopping 16.3 percent. Oh, that's the MINIMUM that they have to pay. One liberal cackled" "We have successfully negotiated a number of leases at the new rate.” Translated, that means, we screwed them until they screamed. Actually, they were screwing US at the same time. The formula to calculate what the Feds take in FOR DOING NOTHING is by taking the production volume (barrels of crude oil, MCF of gas) then multiplying it by the royalty rate. Volumes are measured by using very precise equipment subject to carefully developed measurement standards.
BUT!
Along the way, they were able to TAX the wages of the drillers, tax the fuel used by the oil trucks, tax the food, tax, tax, tax, tax. It's what liberals and increasingly, RINOs are very good at.
Here's a thought: The fuel tax on Diesel is 24.5 cents per gallon. How much diesel is used annually by truckers? By people driving diesel cars? By diesel generators? Etc, etc. It seems that the Feds are pulling in BILLIONS of dollars per year anddoing NOTHING to earn it.
Now, if you're a liberal and you're reading this, just a reminder, Corporations DO NOT PAY TAXES. You libs understand that right? ANY costs incurred in the production of an item is, now stick with me here libs, PASSED ON TO THE CONSUMER! So, from the first kickback, er, bonus to the Feds to the Rent, to the Royalty shares, WE FOOT THIS BILL. Then, the arrogant liberals have the B*LLS to slap a gas tax on us? Here's a point NO ONE brings up. The Interstate system, while supposedly a Federal plan, actually runs through the States and they are administered by the States. Ever get pulled over by a STATE TROOPER? He/She sure ain't a Federal employee. So WHY are the Feds getting 18.4 a GALLON! Why are they getting 24.4 cpg for diesel?
Land Deal Reid's in on it as well. "Majority Leader Harry Reid , D-Nev., said he would block any effort to propose amendments to the bill that did not deal directly with the speculation issue." THIS is how stupid liberals are. FORGET about supply and demand. Go after the speculators who are merely doing what futures and commodities speculators DO! Guess what Land Deal? Open up the drilling and watch the prices GO DOWN as the supply RISES to meet the DEMAND! Also, it will keep that 700 BILLION dollars that we send OUT of the USA anually for fuel, here in the US where it belongs. NOT in the pockets of Chavez or President "I'm-in-a-jihad" or the Saudis.
